Bustling Katwijk

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Katwijk? Probably fishing, because this was once the main source of income for the residents of Katwijk. The town still retains the characteristic atmosphere of days gone by, but these days Katwijk has a lot more to offer!

Katwijk is a cheerful seaside resort with a population of over 60.000 and numerous facilities for its residents, as well as the many tourists who visit every year. In the attractive, modern village centre, you will find well-known national chain stores as well as small local shops. Katwijk is worth visiting all year round! The centre of Katwijk is five minutes away from De Zuidduinen.

There is more than enough to do: from nature walks to sports events, from fireworks to rescue demonstrations. You can have a good browse around the lively tourist market in the centre every Tuesday during the summer months. On the third Saturday of August, you will be astounded when you see the Rijnburg flower parade passing by.

Don't miss out on Katwijk Museum with its stunning collection of paintings by artists once resident in Katwijk. There is still a real sense of history here. The harbour side area is certainly worth a visit too. You and your children are guaranteed a fun day out with a sailing excursion to the Kaag Lakes on a boat tour with Rederij Triton.

There is more than just Katwijk itself that makes a visit to De Zuidduinen worthwhile. Katwijk is located centrally in the Randstad, which means all the large Randstad cities are accessible. The Keukenhof is also a short ride away from De Zuidduinen. You will have plenty to do throughout your stay at Katwijk!
